How does it work?

Copper Citrate is a food ingredient and a nutrient. Copper is also necessary for proper red blood cell formation, iron absorption, bone formation, and bone maintenance.

Either copper(II) sulfate with trisodium citrate or copper(II) ethanoate with citric acid can be used to make copper(II) citrate-5-water in the labs.

Side effects:

As long as you take no more than 10 mg of copper a day by mouth, copper is likely to be safe. Copper can be harmful when ingested in large amounts. It is recommended that adults don't consume more than 10 mg per day of copper. Even 1 gram of copper sulfate can result in kidney failure and death. An overdose of copper can cause vomiting, nausea, stomach pain, fever, low BP, and heart problems.
