Introduction of product:

Several bacterial infections are treated with amoxicillin. Infections of the ear, throat, pneumonia, skin, and urinary tract are among the most common. Usually, it is taken by mouth or by injection. Numbness, rash, and nausea are some of the side effects common to the medication.

How does it work:

A semisynthetic penicillin (beta-lactam antibiotic) called amoxicillin inhibits one or more enzymes in the peptidoglycan's biosynthetic pathway. Peptidoglycan is an essential aspect of the bacterial cell wall.

Applications or where it is used:

There are a number of bacterial infections that amoxicillin treats. In addition, they include pneumonia, middle ear infection, strep throat, skin infection, and urinary tract infection. You can take it by mouth or inject it less frequently.

How to use:

Maximum daily dosage: 120 mg/kg divided into 2 or 6 equal doses per day. Adults do not require any adjustment. A hemodialyzer that causes circulation can remove amoxicillin. It is recommended to administer this medication by intravenous injection or intravenous infusion.

Dosage of usage:

Do not take amoxicillin unless your doctor has prescribed it. Please read all medication guides or instruction sheets included with your prescription label.

Every day, take amoxicillin at same time.

You can take amoxicillin with or without food. To find out if you should take your medicine with food, see the label of your medicine.

If you measure a dose of oral suspension (liquid), shake it first.

You should use the dosing syringe provided to measure liquid medicine, or an accurate dose-measuring device. (Do not use a kitchen spoon.) Water, milk, baby formula, fruit juice, or ginger ale can all be used with the liquid. Consume the entire mixture immediately. Don't save it for later.

The chewable tablet must be chewed before swallowing.

Don't crush, chew, or break the regular tablet, and swallow it whole.

You will need to undergo frequent medical tests.

For the treatment of stomach ulcers, use clarithromycin and lansoprazole together with amoxicillin. The patient instructions or medication guide provided with each medication should be read. It is important that you follow your doctor's instructions concerning the change in your medication schedule or dose.

Keep taking this medication for the full prescribed period, even if you feel better soon after taking it. By skipping doses you increase your chances of getting an infection that is resistant to your medication. Neither the flu nor a common cold can be treated with amoxicillin.

It is not a good idea to share this medicine with someone who shares the same symptoms. Certain medical tests can be affected by this medicine. Any doctor you see should know you are using this medicine.

The medicine should be stored at room temperature away from heat, humidity, and light.

Do not freeze liquid amoxicillin. It can be stored in a refrigerator. After the pharmacy mixes liquid medicines, throw them away if they aren't used within 14 days.

Side effects:

  • Some of the more common side effects include:
  • Diarrhea
  • Abnormal taste sense
  • Skin rash
  • Stomach upset
  • Headache
  • Vaginal yeast infection

Precautions

Anaphylactic reactions

Penicillin therapy, including amoxicillin, can cause serious and occasionally fatal hypersensitivity (anaphylactic) reactions. The incidence of anaphylaxis following parenteral therapy is higher, but there have been cases involving patients who have taken oral penicillins. Penicillin hypersensitivity and/or susceptibility to multiple allergens increase one's risk of experiencing these reactions. In cases of penicillin hypersensitivity, individuals treated with cephalosporins experienced severe reactions. Getting a complete history of previous reactions to penicillins, cephalosporins, or other allergens should be done before beginning treatment with amoxil.
