How does it work?

Dapsone belongs to the sulfone drug class. The medication decreases swelling (inflammation) and stops the growth of bacteria. Viral infections (e.g., common cold, flu) will not be treated by this medication. Inappropriate or unnecessary use of an antibiotic can cause it to lose its effectiveness.
