Product Description
This drug is a second generation, tricyclic antihistamine with peripheral H1-antagonist action. Desloratadine is the active descarboethoxy metabolite of loratidine. It has a long-lasting effect and does not cause drowsiness as it does not readily enter the central nervous system. Desloratadine is used as an antihistamine to relieve allergy symptoms such as watery eyes, runny nose, itching eyes or nose, sneezing, hives, and itching. It works by blocking a certain natural substance called histamine that your body makes during an allergic reaction. This drug is recommended to take by mouth with or without food.

Loratadine is a non-sedative antihistaminic drug that is used to treat seasonal allergic symptoms. As loratadine is readily absorbed, its metabolic bioactivation into descarboxy loratadine occurs rapidly.
Technical Specifications:
Loratadine is 10 mg in each tablet. The tablets also contain 78.25mg lactose monohydrate. The tablets are round, white to off-white, uncoated, and have "10" and "R" embossed on one side.
Applications Or where it is used:
Loratadine relieves the symptoms of hay fever (allergy to pollen, dust, or other substances in the air) and other allergies. Sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, nose, or throat are all symptoms of this condition. Using Loratadine for hives can also relieve itching and redness.
How to use:
The medication can be taken with or without food. It is usually taken once a day, as directed by a doctor or the label. Chew well each chewable tablet before swallowing. When using this medication in liquid form, use a measuring device/spoon carefully to measure your dose.
Dosage of usage:
- Usual Adult Dose of Loratadine for Allergic Rhinitis: 10 mg orally once a day
- Usual Adult Dose for Urticaria 10 mg orally once a day
Side effects:
There are possible side effects associated with loratadine. Any of these symptoms should be reported to your doctor if they are severe or persist:
- Headache
- Nervousness
- Dry mouth
- Mouth sores
- Difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
- Nosebleed
- Sore throat
- Weakness
Warnings and precautions while using this product
The following symptoms should be reported if you are taking loratadine for hives and develop any of them:
- Difficulty swallowing, speaking, or breathing
- Swelling in and around the mouth
- Swelling of the tongue
