Introduction of product:
Microcrystalline cellulose is a pure depolymerized cellulose that is produced by hydrolyzing cellulose precursors with mineral acids, and is usually found as a pulp or other fibrous material. A hydrolysis process breaks up cellulose polymers into smaller chains or microcrystals in the presence of water and acid.
Applications Or where it is used:
The term microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) refers to the refined form of wood pulp, and it is used as a texturizing ingredient, an anti-caking agent, a fat substitute, an emulsifier and an extender in food production. A vitamin supplement or tablet is the most common form.
Different processes are available for the synthesis of MCC, including reaction extrusion, enzyme mediated, steam explosion, and acid hydrolysis. A neutralized aqueous slurry of hydrolyzed cellulose is commonly spray-dried into an intermediate product. It is used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and food industries.
How to use:
Microcrystalline cellulose is an excipient that is commonly used for direct compression, according to many publications. In addition, it also functions as a hard, dry binder, tablet disintegrant, absorbent, lubricant, and anti-adhesive.
You may experience discomfort/irritation/redness, tearing, light sensitivity, sticky eyelashes, or temporarily blurred vision. In the event of any of these side effects persisting or worsening, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
